1938 Farmall Tractor

Alan's parents lived on a ranch in Southern Wyoming near McKinnon, Wyoming. His father purchased a used tractor in the 1940's. It was a 1938 McCormick-Deering Farmall. The family ranch in Wyoming was sold in 1948 and the family moved to Vernal, Utah. The Tractor went with them even though they moved to a home in town. Alan's father did, however, crank up the old tractor regularly to give it some exercise.

Eventually the family bought a small farm and sold the home in town. The White's felt that they needed a farm so that their boys could learn to work and work they did. Alan "grew up" on that old tractor.

After Alan and his brother graduated from High School and left home, the family farm was sold and the parents bought a home in town. The tractor stayed with the farm. For years the Farmall sat in the weeds deteriorating, home to wasps, rust and various critters.

Alan attempted several times to talk the current owner, Tom, out of the old tractor to no avail. In June of 2006, with the encouragement of his friend Kevin Seamons, Alan convinced Tom that the Farmall belonged in the White Family. As soon as he received the "go ahead", Alan and Kevin were on the road to Vernal to get Alan's treasure.

After much loving care from Alan and his friends and many E-bay purchases of missing parts, an exhaustive search for tires, and many hours of work, in 2007 Alan proudly drove his 1938 Farmall tractor in summer parades all around the upper Cache Valley. It continues to participate in many local events.
To us it is truely a "Timeless Favorite." It even has a special home in the garage between the two cars.
